Some Interesting Information You Might Not Know

As i read articles about improving your health to pass along to you, I come across  some helpful information that is not part of the subject i have written about.  Here are some helpful little tidbits for a healthier you.
Did you know that orange and green vegetables such as squash, bell peppers, carrots, sweet potatoes, spinach, peas and broccoli will help lower your risk of death from almost any cause?  They are rich in alpha carotene which can reduce your mortality risk by more than one-third.  Research shows alpha carotene is even stronger than beta carotene in slowing and stopping growth of cancer cells.
Did you know that eating some kinds of fish can help prevent periodontist disease?  We all know that brushing and flossing your teeth is essential for a healthier smile, but adding fish high in omega-3 fats in your diet will help also.  Fatty acids (DHA) and (EPA) are found in cold water fish such as salmon and sardines.
Do you know what kind of juice is best in the morning to help get blood flowing in you brain?  Beet juice is a good source of nitrates which converts to nitrites with saliva which is good for blood vessels by helping them relax to assist better blood flow.
Did you know that warm milk is not the only beverage that can help you sleep?  Cherry juice is high in melatonin, which is a sleep-regulating hormone.  Keep in mind though, that sweetened juice will add more calories, so always drink unsweetened juice.
Did you know that low-carb diets have little impact on heart disease risk, unless you include a lot of veggie-derived fats?  These are vegetables including beans, tofu, nuts, legumes, olive oil just to name a few.  These will lower you risk of heart disease by 30 percent.
